At Baby Squids, we’ve always believed that our greatest strength lies in our people. From the very first splash in the pool to the expansion of our brand across the UK, our mission has been to build a business that works for families—both the ones in our classes and the ones running them.

Today, we are incredibly proud to celebrate a significant landmark in our journey: our first successful franchise resale. The transition of our Southampton territory marks an exciting evolution for the brand. While we are delighted to see the business grow under new leadership, the core of what makes Southampton special remains unchanged. We are thrilled to confirm that the transition has been seamless, with our dedicated, expert teaching staff remaining poolside to ensure continuity for our swimmers.

But the real magic of a franchise resale lies in the fresh energy and perspective a new owner brings. For Lucy, the new owner of Baby Squids Southampton, the journey from the pool to the boardroom was a natural progression.

In Lucy’s Words:

“They say that some of the best career moves happen when you aren’t even looking for them. For me, that journey started in the pool, with a tiny swimsuit and my daughter.

My first introduction to Baby Squids wasn’t as a business owner, but as a mummy. I was looking for something special to do with my daughter, and the moment we started our sessions, I was hooked.

What really stood out to me was the variety of sessions available. Due to lessons 7 days a week, it provided that rare, special bonding time for both parents to be involved. Watching my daughter grow in confidence in the water became the highlight of our week.

As much as I love being a parent, I was also looking for a professional path that didn’t force me to choose between a career and my young family. When the opportunity arose to start teaching with Baby Squids, everything clicked. It offered the elusive work-life balance I had been searching for. I could stay active, engage with my community, and still be present for the big (and small) moments at home.

When the chance to buy the Southampton franchise came up, I jumped at the opportunity. Having experienced the classes as a parent and as an instructor, I knew exactly how much value these sessions bring to local families. My mission now is simple: to bring more fun, safe, and engaging baby and preschool swimming sessions to the Southampton area.”
