Launching Staffordshire and Nantwich!

Hello Staffordshire and Nantwich!

I’ve got some incredibly exciting news to share today—the Baby Squids family is growing again!

We are absolutely thrilled to welcome the wonderful Margarita King, or Mags, to our community as she launches her brand-new Baby Squids Staffordshire & Nantwich franchise this November 2025. This marks our 16th franchise sale in just five years, and it’s fantastic to be bringing more high-quality, supportive swimming classes to the North of England!

When I first met Mags, I was immediately struck by her natural warmth and her genuine passion for supporting families. She is a true champion of the Baby Squids ethos, which is all about building children’s confidence, fostering a lifelong love of the water, and running truly inclusive and nurturing sessions.

Margarita’s background in SEN support, working closely with children and families to ensure they feel understood and supported, means she brings a wealth of intuition and experience to the pool. If anyone understands the importance of providing a safe, dedicated space for parents and children, it’s her.

Her own swimming journey began back in 2019 when her son was just four months old. Those early moments in the pool were truly transformative for her, something I know many of our parents can relate to.

As Margarita says:

“Spending time in the pool as a first-time mum taught me many things. The importance of routine, swim safety (even from an early age), and also the bond that comes from dedicated time together. Social circles are hard to form or maintain when you are a parent. Everything changes and you have a new identity.”

After a pause during the Covid times, Margarita took the leap and qualified as a SEQ Level 3 Swim Teacher in November 2024. She is now taking on her dream and making it something bigger—her own franchise, built on the values she believes in: inclusion of abilities, safe spaces, and fun!

Margarita has a background in theatre in her blood, so customers can expect songs, high engagement, and a wonderful, vibrant community environment, both online and in the pool!

We’ll be kicking off classes in November 2025 across two initial pools:

She also has plans to expand even further into more pools soon, including Cheshire at weekends, so keep an eye out!

For me, seeing people like Mags join the Baby Squids family is incredibly rewarding. Her natural friendly manner is amazing for supporting families and their children to learn how important the best start is for a child in the water. These early years are vital for the onward journey to create a child who has true water confidence.

The fun and engaging way that our lessons run are so well suited to someone intuitive who loves working with children. I simply cannot wait to see how well Mags does as she meets her new customers in just over a month’s time. Customers will not be disappointed in her quality of teaching or her ethos for every child’s swim journey!

The business has seen huge growth since I decided to take my Hampshire-based swim school national just before the pandemic—we’ve now helped more than 20,000 children learn to swim! Today, we have 61 teachers running over 500 classes per week across the UK, and we are growing weekly.

Our aim is simple: to bring swimming to all. We are inclusive, supportive, and want to ensure that every child gets the chance to build their water confidence early to ensure a safe and lifelong love for the water.
